Burberry makes the best trench coats. That is a fact. Nobody should even dispute that. I don't think they even MAKE leather jackets. D&G will make great quality and stylish stuff, but it won't be the best leather jacket. The best leather jacket is probably not even from a famous brand (if any brand). Your best bet is to look around a nice city. Check thrift stores, department stores (like Saks, Nordstroms, Macy's etc.). Eventually you'll find the perfect jacket for you. Just make sure it's of great quality and that it'll last a lifetime. If not, then why bother spending a few hundred dollars on something that will rip in a weekend. I have a black leather jacket that I have worn for 4 or 5 winters. It has not been treated to make it water resistant. I have worn it in the pouring ran and heavy snow and no visilble damage. Of course when I get home I usually hang it up where it can dry appropriatley.

It's a nice idea for a present but to be honest it's very important that motorbike jackets fit well so it would be best to take him to the store with you. Leathers should be very tight - if they're loose they will tear more easily when you hit the tarmac and will not provide proper protection. The only way to guarantee a proper fit is to try them on - even when I was in the Hein Gerike store trying on lots of jacket of the same size and make, the difference it fit was amazing. Some were perfect, others were terrible. So take him to the store with you otherwise you may end up wasting your money.

I really like my Hein Gericke kit, otherwise consider Alpinestars, Joe Rocket, Richa etc - there are many brands to choose from.

Best way to buy leather jackets: Is to try them on in front of a full length mirror. A size medium for example is not one size fits all, the sleeves may be too long or the body may be too tight. When you put your elbows together, they should not fit tight on the shoulders.

I also suggest when paying for online purchases, don't use Paypal, it takes just once to be a victim. I was and it took 3 years to get my credit. Use your Credit Card, always, they can help you if any disputes.
AND beware of international shipping, they could add 3-25% extra fees, even if the price is cheap.
My merchant was from Texas, but the product was shipped from Hong Kong.
Other times, when you need to call Customer Service, they speak in foreign tongue and no one to translate them or JUST they don't answer calls.

But then i read it was big, which could actually be better!

A patterned blouse that's fairly long, or just a simpled patterned shirt with the leather jacket(rolled up) and a pair of leggings is casual but could be made fancier with booted heels or just more decorate flats or gladiators.
I also recommend oxford shoes.

My husband stupidly stuck a sticker (name tag) on his expensive Italian black leather jacket. When he took it off, he ripped little pieces of the leather off with the sticker. Now you can see a huge outline across his chest of where the sticker used to be.

What can we do now?? We don't know any place who repairs leather and we're afraid they might do a botched-up job. Please help.

Ugg! Gosh, who would have thought a simple sticker could cause such damage?? I also learned the hard way to never stick anything to my clothing, ever. But, in the future, if you MUST stick a name tag to your clothing, it is best to first quickly stick and unstick it to a garment several times to pick up lots of lint, making the sticker less sticky, so when you go to remove it, it is not stuck.

Leather is a very tricky "fabric" to repair because it is actually a hide and has no weave making up the fibers. I know vinyl can be repaired with melting a substance on the tear to bring it back together, but I doubt highly that would work for leather. The thing about leather is that once a needle hole penetrates the hide, that hole is there for good. Sewing this tear would only highlight
the area with thread and holes. A seamstress is not the professional you need to seek help for this repair.

Contact a luggage, pocketbook or leather car seat repair shop. Someone who specializes in leather repair is your best option. Special techniques and tools are used to make the repair less conspicuous by these professionals. Look through the yellow pages for businesses who specialize in seamless leather repair. Ask to see completed work and ask questions about how they intend to do the work and the expected results. If you are not 100% satisfied with their answers or you get the least bit of an odd feeling, take your jacket and move on to find another person to help you.

Absolutely NOT!!!!! All you'll succeed in doing is staining the jacket. Get some leather renewal cream or even use shoe polish...but never oil of any kind.

Leather doesnt like water right? I need to clean it really well...someone spilled food all over it and I was afraid to put water on it so there is literally food caked up all over it. Its a very expensive jacket too so I would rather not take chances with something that may not work. FYI, the dry cleaners wont take it.

I am a professional leather cleaner. why isn't the dry cleaner accepting it? Do Not clean it at home, and Do not put saddle soap on it. The cost of the jacket does not matter at this point, the longer the stain sets the less chance the cleaner will have of removing it. Send it to a professional leather cleaner, most dry cleaners send out their work so check around. My Company is called Allegheny Leather Care, if you don't have any luck maybe you can ship it to us for us to clean.

If it is a lambskin with the wool still on it it will have to be treated like suede and also needs a good wterproofing protector on it to help stop this kind of thing happening. If you use saddle soap on this type of leather you will ruin it.

Okay so a friend of my moms gives me and my sis some clothes from like garage sales and such. For the love of God, don't throw it in the washer. I'm sorry to say that you're just gonna have to bite the bullet, and take it to the cleaners. One good thing about it thought is that you can't buy a good leather jacket for over 100.00, so you really got a good deal since it was free.
